Pacific Environmental Technologies LLC (Pace Tech) is a small business located in Honolulu, Hawaii that specializes in research and development of novel instrumentation to characterize and monitor the terrestrial and aqueous environment in situ. We presently specialize in analytical mass spectrometry, which allows simultaneous, multi-compound detection at low concentration levels over a wide dynamic range.
Our capabilities are in making robust mass spectrometer-based instruments that can function for long periods in extreme environments, anywhere from hot, acidic volcanic vents to seafloor water depths of 6,000 m on this planet, and we are poised for instrumenting probes, rovers and even down-hole monitors on the Moon, Mars and other planetary objects. We’re not technically rocket scientists and engineers, but we do collaborate with colleagues at JPL!
Another aspect of our research and development is the goal of lowest possible power consumption so that the instruments can operate remotely for long periods. This is, after all, what in situ monitoring is all about—minimal disturbance of the environment and less person-power and cost expended for the investigator.
Besides providing basic R&D, Pace Tech will in the future provide user training, instrument support, and analytical services.
